Creation of a Book on Contemporary Balkan Furniture Design and Its Promotion in Bulgaria and Europe

2025

The project “Creation of a Book on Contemporary Balkan Furniture Design and Its Promotion in Bulgaria and Europe” was approved for financial support by the National Culture Fund under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Due to the drastically shortened implementation period subsequently imposed by the National Culture Fund, BISMAR decided not to sign the funding agreement, as it became impossible to deliver the project at the planned scale and to the required professional standard. However, the idea was not abandoned. BISMAR continued to develop it independently, resulting in Creative Balkans: Contemporary Furniture Design – an international research project and publication exploring contemporary furniture design across the Balkans.

Projects

Developed in partnership with Studio Komplekt, the exhibition was planned to travel to five European capitals, showcasing a selection of significant works and authors from the Bulgarian design scene. The project aimed to contribute to the international visibility and promotion of Bulgarian product design. Due to the drastically shortened implementation period set by the National Culture Fund, BISMAR decided not to sign the funding agreement and to withdraw from the implementation of the project under the programme.
